Argumentative Research Essay

This is what I am assigned to write about: I am wanting to argue that all grade levels including high school students should be required to take two years of an arts curriculum because it enhances the students capability to be more creative with their overall work in general education classes and helps them think critically more than their peers. The students that have taken an art curriculum have been shown to see different perspectives and analyze information differently giving them an advantage whenever it comes to critically thinking, in the classroom and in the real world. It has also been shown to increase the students confidence whenever it comes to learning and thinking positively about their work and learning needs

D. Your final draft must be submitted through Blackboard Assignments by no later than 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1

4. You must derive your subject and formulate a hypothesis from the brief discussion below:

Over the past twenty years, the American education system has seen the advent and demise of No Child Left Behind, the implementation of Common Core, and a universal push to advance STEM programs at all levels. During the same time period, U.S. public education has seen an unprecedented drop in funding. The combination of these two phenomena has resulted in administrators shifting priorities (and funding) to programs that provide measurable results in these areas. The additional funding to support these programs has invariably been stripped away from creative arts. Programs in dance, theater, music, visual, and all other arts have been reduced or abandoned through the high school level and even into postsecondary institutions. Many educators have argued that the push to dismantle the arts will eventually lead to a significant deterioration in creative and alternative thinking in American students. Still others argue that forcing all students into these classes is pointless since most have no desire to pursue these subjects.

A sample of an annotated bibliography in MLA Works Cited format has been posted to Course Information. Please note that the annotations on these samples are fairly brief, and I normally would expect a more extensive summary. However, the sample meets the minimum requirement of providing the basic works cited information for each source as well as the three essential elements of an annotation:

1. a summary of the information presented by the source

2. an evaluation of the source’s usefulness

3. the type of source, relevance to your work, and its authority

Please note that your annotated works cited page must contain a minimum of five to eight sources; the sample contains only four examples.
