WK 4  DB 1:  What I Have Observed

My past manager (Principal), was a compassionate employer who always gave us the benefit of the doubt.  But as we all know, there will be some employees who will take advantage of people’s kindness. Needless to say, some teachers were not forth coming with their check-in times.  Sometimes, when a teacher was late, he/she would get others to put in the time for them.  This worked for a while, but when the Principal found out what was going on, he decided to put an end to this by taking up the sign-in sheet at the dead line for signing in.  He implemented his coercive power by taking the sheet to his office; therefore, the employee had to go to his office to sign in.  Needless to say, this put an end to late sign- ins.  This was not being severely coercive,  but it put an end to the surmounting tardiness.

Whirlpool Corporation is number 1 in the world when it comes to home appliances.  They incorporate wide diversity which is probably their reason for being number 1.  Their network groups include:

Asian Community (WAC)- This network uses Asian talents and practices to help create more opportunities and succeed globally.

Awareness of Visible and Invisible Disabilities (AVID)- This is beneficial to those with disabilities and it helps them reach their full potential.  It’s a bridge between consumer and management.

Focus Network- Used to attract and retain diverse talent.

Hispanic and Latino Network- This is 100%  open to all with fun and friendly cultural experience for those who want to support the local Hispanic and Latino community.

Pride Network-This network believes all type of families need to be welcomed, included, and celebrated.  It was the first and only to receive a 100 score from Human Rights Campaign.  It’s also known as a great work place for LGBT.

Veterans Association (WVA)- This rewards vets for their sacrifices and dedication.  The WVA recruits, trains, and retains vets’ talents, and it also involves their families.

Women’s Network (WWN)- It empowers and engages women of all levels.  The group  provides exposure to leadership and supports each individual’s career success.

Young Professional Network- Here,  people of all ages join.  It provides a place for tomorrow’s world leaders and lets them become mentors.

Cultural diversity is a plus for any organization because consumers and management are cross-cultured. The world’s makeup is diverse, and it would not be advantageous to not incorporate diversity in an organization.  There needs to be a cohesive team made up pf different human qualities.
