Hello. I recently performed an experiment to determine the activation energy of sodium hypoclorite (NaOCl), using Co(N03)2 as a catalyst. I designed an apparatus that would measure the pressure change as the reaction proceeds. For this, I used a pressure sensor, connected to a computer with Vernier software, more specifically Logger Pro. Of course, several measurements and retrials have been made at various temperatures (at room T, then elevating this for +5°C, +10°C and +20°C) to collect as much data as possible. After the reaction was finished, graphs of pressure change against time were obtaind and recorded. Now, my teacher asked me to calculate the activation energy of the reaction. I realize this can be deduced by plotting a graph of lnk against 1/T. However, I don’t seem to find any indication of how this , or even the rate constant, could be deduced from my pressure over time measurements. I am providing you with an example of a graph obtained within the course of the experiment. Could you please indicate the steps as to what I need to calculate/dofor me to be aple to get the activation energy for this reaction? Thank you in advance!
